Making things make life better

And I certainly need to make life a little better these days...

I started sewing these crowns a few weeks ago to sell at the Cotton District Arts Festival this Saturday.

A friend of mine requested one for her daughter's birthday and since they were so easy (that's right, I actually read & followed the tutorial), I made a ton on a whim and decided to get paid. Hopefully.

I had all of the fabric already except three of the patterns and I just bought a pack of buttons & some elastic and that was really it. The backs used to be some of Jude's old pants to help keep it sturdy and standing.

Jude will also have a plethora of fabulous custom designed prints, posters, and t-shirts and we're both really hopeful for a great weekend. Wish us luck!

What I Wore Sunday

This outfit (much like my mood and the weather at the moment) is just sort of... blah. And I apologize right now for not even attempting to compensate with something witty to read so at least your eyeballs don't drip out of your sockets. Sorry.

In case your eyeballs are still intact:
Dress: Old Navy maternity
Cardigan: Target
Shoes: Old Navy

Save yourself and head over for more fun at Fine Linen & Purple.

What I Wore Sunday

solids. solids. solids.

I'm pretty sure cardigans are a pregnant girl's best friend.
I should have done a separate photo for the shoes because they're by far the most interesting piece in this boring ensemble, but my swollen feet aren't doing them any favors...
Look at all that pollen. Yuck.

Cardigan: thrift store (probably someone's grandma's)
Tank: Old Navy (Certainly a summer must-have for any other preggos out there. It's long and stretchy. Yes, I wish the straps were wider and the cut a bit higher, but with a cardigan and some adjustments, it's really a great tank.)
Skirt: Hand-me-down from who-knows-where. I've had it since Joan's pregnancy.
Shoes: Guessing Target because they're Mossimo.
Necklace: Gift from Dear Friend Jill (that she made!). My fave.

Head over to Fine Linen & Purple for more style and less belly...

Verbatim

Joan: Papa... when's your hair gonna grow longer?
Jude: Never.

Alisha: What do you think Simon's gonna do when he gets here?
Charlotte: Get dirty and breathe.
Alisha: Pretty much.

Joan: Momma, where did this turkey come from?
Alisha: Wal-Mart.
Joan: No, I mean did it come from a fish or a chicken or something?

Charlotte: Why Joan has to go to school?
Alisha: To learn stuff.
Charlotte: And me?
Alisha: Sure, what do you want to learn about?
Charlotte: Dirty stuff.

Joan: I'm a Landry and I was in the pantry!

Joan: Ugh, Charlotte - do you have diarrhea?
Charlotte: No, diarrhea is my friend.

Charlotte: Momma, I'm afraid.
Alisha: Aw, of what?
Charlotte: Of your tummy.

Is this too late?

These photos really should have gone with Sunday's post, you know, since it was Easter and all... But, they were from an Easter egg hunt on campus a few weeks ago and I was waiting to post them with the rest of the Easter stuff and forgot. Enjoy:
Ready for the crazy?
A helicopter parent's dream come true.
(I'm not referring to Jude, though.)

It was really difficult finding all those eggs. They were hidden so well.

The spoils.

Couldn't help but throw in this blast from the past
